Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I have to know how to fence in order to join?
No, our experienced coaches and club members are happy to provide entry-level instruction. The club has a wide level of ability and experience levels, and provides a friendly, competitive environment.

2. Do you have to be a USFA member to join ASU Fencing Club?
No. However, participation in USFA events (such as Arizona Division tournaments) do require USFA membership. Click here to access the USFA website, then click on "Joining the USFA".

3. Is the equipment provided?
Yes, but male personal body protection is not. Women's chest protectors are available. However, fencers participating in tournaments may need to supply personal equipment that meet USFA standards, though club equipment may be available for use.

4. Who is eligible to join ASU Fencing Club?
ASU students, Members of the SRC, Faculty, and Alumni are eligible members.

5.Who can participate in open fencing?
Along with club members, guests may fence after consultation with the Officers or Head Coach.

6. What are the club fees?
$50 semester

7. Where does the club meet?
We are located in the Green Gym in the Student Recreational Center on the Arizona State University Tempe campus.

8. When does the club meet?
Tuesday & Thursday @ 8-11pm

Sunday @ 12-4pm

9. How do you sign up for lessons?
Contact the head coach or club president to discuss lesson format and availability.

10. How do you get on the collegiate team?
Team members are required to be undergraduate or graduate students with full NCAA eligibility. You must also speak to the head coach
